Vinita Banthia

Vinita focuses her practice on complex environmental, products liability and toxic torts litigation. Vinita primarily represents clients pursuing and defending multi-faceted environmental matters often involving complex site histories of contamination, numerous parties, corporate successorship and shared liability, remediation and cost recovery, diminution in value to property, and natural resource damages. Vinita has extensive experiences representing Fortune 100 and multinational companies in matters involving state and federal claims and legal frameworks applied to different chemicals, including petroleum contaminants such as MTBE and benzene, PFAS, and several others. 

Leveraging her science background, Vinita digs deep into cases that are often driven by complex scientific and technical facts and testimony. Vinita prides herself on her ability to listen to and understand the objectives of her clients, and to develop a plan that uses creative and unique strategies to achieve results. To enhance her technical and legal expertise in the oil and gas industry, Vinita completed a short secondment at PBF, an oil refinery, gaining first-hand insight into the industry’s operational and regulatory challenges. As a temporary in-house attorney, Vinita was able to work with the different business functions, including contracts, procurement, safety, employment, and environmental to provide practical advice on compliance and other legal matters.  

Prior to joining Archer, Vinita was a litigation and trial associate at a boutique trial firm, where she practiced products liability law defending manufacturers from a range of diverse industries. She was on a defense team representing a Fortune 500 medical device manufacturer facing a Multi-District litigation with over 5000 plaintiffs. The team secured complete summary judgment for the manufacturer and the dismissal of all plaintiffs in the MDL.

Outside of her casework, Vinita is on the Board of Directors for the Environmental Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, serves on the Board of the Share Food Program—a  Philadelphia Food Bank, and is a Co-Chair of Programming for the South Asian Bar Association of Philadelphia.
