Job Description Summary
Archer is seeking a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for implementing business development strategies in the firm’s Philadelphia Office that will support the firm's overall growth, enhance existing client relationships and expand the firm's client base.
The Business Development Manager will report to the Chief Business Development Officer and will be assigned to the firm’s Philadelphia, PA office. From time to time, travel to Archer’s headquarters in Voorhees, NJ will be required.
Responsibilities
- Work with the firm’s practices and industry groups on the development, execution and tracking of strategic business development initiatives. Develop initiatives that help strengthen and expand the firm's relationships with clients, assist in developing and implementing strategies to cultivate business with prospective clients.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to attorneys and help them to develop and implement their individual business development plans.
- Serve as lead for the development and management of client pitches and proposals by gathering relevant experience, performing research, drafting responses (including writing new content), securing internal approvals, and working with other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain representative experience library.
- Provide ongoing client, prospect, and industry research, and competitive intelligence, as well as analysis on emerging market and industry trends to better position the firm in winning new business.
- Prepare research and marketing materials for meetings with prospective clients.
- Work with the Director of Communications to develop marketing collateral as it relates to specific business development opportunities.
- Evaluate the quality of business events and organizations to help focus attorneys’ efforts on such events and organizations. Coordinate with attorneys attending in developing and evaluating leads on viable companies.
- Proactively participate in key business and industry professional organizations, identifying partnership opportunities to enhance the position of the firm or practice groups in the marketplace.
- Work with the Director of Marketing to identify and secure speaking opportunities for attorneys by monitoring business and industry professional organizations event calendars, and trade and legal publications.
- Develop and manage annual calendar for legal industry rankings, recognitions and award submissions. Handle completion of submissions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field
- A minimum of 5 years, related experience in a law firm environment, preferably with deep connections to the Philadelphia legal market
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills and the ability to clearly communicate ideas to various audiences
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage and implement multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
- Must demonstrate critical thinking skills, including the ability to gather, analyze, and apply research and data to make recommendations consistent with business goals
- Ability to establish and maintain the trust and confidence of key stakeholders and act as a strategic advisor
- High sense of responsibility, accountability, and focus on responsiveness
- Displays high attention to detail in work product
- Advanced user of the MS Office suite, including Word, Power Point and Excel, as well as Adobe Acrobat, and marketing databases
- Flexibility and willingness to respond to issues outside of business hours
