Salvatore DeBunda Re-Elected President of Horsemen’s Group at Parx RacingAttorney Salvatore M. DeBunda has been re-elected to a second three-year term as President of the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (PTHA) by members of the statewide organization, which represents owners and trainers of horses that race at Parx Racing. Formerly known as Philadelphia Park, Parx Racing is part of Parx Racing and Casino in Bensalem, Pa.

Mr. DeBunda is co-Managing Partner of the Philadelphia office of Archer P.C., one of the region’s largest law firms.  A racehorse owner and breeder for more than 20 years, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the 4,000-member PTHA for more than 15 years.  His term as President runs through Dec. 31, 2016.

In September 2013, Mr. DeBunda was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Parx Racing in recognition of his efforts to promote the sport and benefit horsemen and other participants. Mr. DeBunda was honored as PTHA Man of the Year in 2007 in recognition of his work as primary author of the horsemen’s section of Act 71, the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. The legislation allocates a percentage of casino slot machine revenue to support thoroughbred and harness racing in the Commonwealth, as well as the nation’s first horse rescue program, Turning for Home, created by the PTHA.
Mr. DeBunda is widely regarded as one Pennsylvania’s leading authorities on the horseracing industry and equine law. He has been quoted extensively in the media with regard to those areas.
