Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter Names Archer Partner Carlton L. Johnson to Police Community Oversight Board

Carlton L. Johnson, a Partner in Archer’s Philadelphia office, has been appointed to the newly created Police Community Oversight Board.

Last week, Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter announced the members of the board, in response to the United States Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services report, entitled, “Collaborative Reform Initiative: An Assessment of Deadly Force Policy and Practice in the Philadelphia Police Department.”

According to the Mayor’s office, the report provided recommendations to enhance training, improve the quality and transparency of deadly force investigations, strengthen the use of force process, and institutionalize organizational learning processes related to deadly force incidents.

Mr. Johnson is Co-Chair of Archer’s Civil Rights and Government Relations practices. He is an active member of the firm’s Diversity and Hiring Committees. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Johnson served as the Chief Deputy City Solicitor of the Civil Rights Unit for the City of Philadelphia.
