John C. Connell, a Partner and Shareholder in Archer’s Haddonfield office, has been elected as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of NJ Supreme Court’s Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Fund of the bar of New Jersey. The appointment is effective March 1, 2015 for a one year term. Mr. Connell was first appointed to the IOLTA Board by the New Jersey Supreme Court in 2012.
Since 1989, the IOLTA Fund has awarded grants of more than $335 million to Legal Services of New Jersey and 134 other non-profit, 501(c) 3 organizations. The grants provide funding for free legal services to low-income people with civil legal problems, improvements in the administration of justice and education about the law. Mr. Connell works with our Government Litigation, Employment, and Business Litigation Groups as trial counsel in litigated matters such as civil rights claims, CEPA and employment discrimination actions, federal and State constitutional claims, media and communications law disputes, and general commercial matters. He also has experience in the litigation of patent infringement, false advertising, and copyright actions. Additionally, Mr. Connell is a member of the firm’s healthcare law section, in which he has represented hospital and health care provider interests in a range of commercial, regulatory, and patient care matters. Mr. Connell is also active in the area of appellate advocacy, serving as co-chair of the firm’s appellate practice group. In this regard, Archer was one of the first New Jersey-based law firms to have a dedicated appellate group, handling both federal and State appeals. Mr. Connell has regularly represented clients before the New Jersey Supreme and Superior Courts, Appellate Division, the Pennsylvania Supreme and Superior Courts, as well as the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third and Federal Circuits.
